The role:
3D Lead, Environmental Designer (Freelance)

The brief:
This spring, across the street from the White House Easter Egg Roll (WHEER), YouTube Kids will host a “Hoppy Hour” in the lobby of the Hotel Washington. The event will offer key opinion formers (policy makers and government leaders, press and business leaders) and their families a welcome chance to rest, grab a snack, and have some fun with kid-friendly, on-site activities and performances by notable YT Kids creators.

The Challenge
Create a laid-back, playful, and casually informative experience at Hotel Washington for KOF+ and their families during WHEER.  Develop and design an original approach that can be seamlessly translated into the WHEER upon approval. Catering to two audience types: KOF and their children, programming with not just fun but educational interactives that enrich young minds

The Solution:
Getting inspired by world-building aspects of youtube kids content we created a conceptual hoppy town where kids would read, learn, create, move and watch their favorite content creators IRL. The space needed to be open and have lots of moving/ running area so scenic pieces were fabricated as large graphics. Each zone had its own color story, programmed activity and energy to keep kids entertained but also enrich them with different activities that tickle different parts of their development.
Invitees were checked in from the front and back entrance of hotel Washington and directed through the non-linear space filled with activites, photo moments and snacks!
Kids arrived into hoppy town in style in their Youtube Kids red train where soft play for toddlers was encouraged.
No kid left without a pair of DIY bunny ears that they color cut, color and customize in the hoppy creating space!
Wellness and movement starts at a young age and kids loved hopping and hooping around our hoppy moving space.
A moment of rest after all that play, the hoppy reading quiet zone was filled with books, puzzles and visually stimulating but calming toys. A popular resting point in walking proximity to family restrooms.
The main stage attracted crowds of kids and parents throughout the day as it showcased different creators like bri reads , go with yoyo and ms monica
The Hoppy Hour programming extended to the South Lawn at the White House where kids learnt to DIY a mechanical bunny paw using smart engineering and creative crafty skills
The space was also equipped with a designated stroller parking considering the audience and guest journey. The stroller parking also doubled as a polaroid photo moment for families and friends to take home their favorite easter memories!
