The 2024 BETX will offer all attendants the opportunity to become a part of some of the most popular and beloved shows on BET. Offering guests a variety of one-of-a-kind activations that will invite them to step into the shoes and live the lives of some of their favorite BET characters. BET+ ORIGINAL show All the Queen's Men has Marilyn “Madam” DeVille at the top of her game in Atlanta, and she won’t let anyone stand in her way as she rules a crew of male exotic dancers. The nightclub scene from the show set the scene for an experiential space at BETX called Club Eden:
The role:
Design Lead, Environmental Designer (Freelance)
The brief:
Bringing the energy of Club Eden from a show to reality and creating a fan engagement moment. Using the footprint in multiple ways to host brunch, dance sessions, VIP experiences, and as a lounge with a DJ and bar.
The Challenge:
To accommodate all the various spatial needs, zoning for optimal guest flow and making the space feel like a set recreation of All the Queen's men. Living up to fan expectations while having lots of elements of surprise with attention to detail.
The Solution:
Tapping into world-building skills and honing in the creative direction of the space using a tightened up materials, colors and textures palette. Using the softness of florals, sheer corrugated panels and drapes to make the truss structure seem less structured and more like walls. Adding in emphasis on lighting and ambient light sources to make it feel intimate and exclusive. Adding easter eggs with fans and non-fans would enjoy as an experience.
